Janet Mehigan

I was introduced to Calligraphy during a five year art training course many years ago. I was elected a Fellow of the Society of Scribes and Illuminators (FSSI) in 1998 and a Fellow of The Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society (HFCLAS) in 1999. I have been involved in writing and illustrating several books, co-authoring four with fellow calligrapher and friend, Mary Noble, and two as author. My days are spent as a freelance artist in Calligraphy, Illumination and Design, and teaching calligraphy and illumination plus drawing and watercolour painting. My work is in the Fitzwilliam Collection of Contemporary Calligraphy in Cambridge.

Pieces of work

Butterfly miniature 2004 Stretched vellum with raised gold leaf on gesso. Written in gouache with metal pens and painted in egg tempera with watercolour washes.
